Established by the National Film Preservation Act of 1988, the National Film Preservation Board at the Library of Congress works to ensure the survival, conservation, and increased public availability of America's film heritage. Each year the National Film Registry selects 25 films showcasing the range and diversity of American film heritage to increase awareness for their preservation.
This LibGuide provides a list of the films in the Registry by decade with a link to each title's entry at IMDb and its availability at FIU in various formats (VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, and streaming). To check out a film or view it off campus, you will need to be a current FIU student or employee. Alumni and non-FIU affiliates are welcome to view the films onsite at the FIU Libraries.
