Latin American & Caribbean Studies Guide

This guide is intended to provide links to FIU resources and outside web pages on LAC topics.

WELCOME! ¬°BIENVENIDOS! BOM VINDO! AKEYI!

maskHello! I'm Gayle Williams, Latin American & Caribbean Information Services Librarian and dLOC Librarian.

This guide assists in identifying resources on Latin American & Caribbean Studies and describing resources held at the FIU Libraries.

WHAT IS LACiC?

LACiC is the Latin American and Caribbean Information Center located in room 225 of Green Library. LACiC does not contain the FIU Library's collections for Latin America and the Caribbean. They are integrated throughout the campus libraries. LACiC is different from LACC, the Latin American and Caribbean Center at FIU.

LACiC is where you'll find me, Gayle Williams, Latin American & Caribbean Information Services Librarian. I am available for individual assistance when you're working on a project about Latin America and/or the Caribbean (I also handle Spain and Portugal and topics on US Latinos). I can provide bibliographic instruction for classes in my subject areas. I am responsible for selecting library resources for these areas.

I am not always in my office so please use my contact information in my profile box to request an appointment for individual assistance or request an instruction session for a class.

DIGITAL LIBRARY OF THE CARIBBEAN

The FIU Libraries coordinate the activities of the Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC), a cooperative digital library for resources from and about the Caribbean and circum-Caribbean. dLOC provides access to digitized versions of Caribbean cultural, historical and research materials currently held in archives, libraries, and private collections.

Go to www.dloc.com to search for materials and learn more about our activities!
